"Let There Be Peace on Earth" is a song written by Jill Jackson Miller and Sy Miller in 1955. I learned this song as a child singing in my middle school choir.  The words of this song have never left my heart.

Years later, after becoming a mother I discovered Montessori education.  I became immersed in the theory and education style.  Soon I became a Montessori teacher, and later the leader of a Montessori school. One of the foundations of Montessori education is peace education.  It is a beautiful experience to observe children in a Montessori classroom working together, using grace and courtesy, solving conflicts peacefully, embracing all learning styles and cultural differences. After observing children in classrooms for twenty years, I realized that peace is learned through modeling and expectation. Peace can be taught, and best taught at a young age.  As adults, we must model peace and our children will follow our lead.

I truly believe that the only way to a peaceful world is through each individual.  This is a monumental expectation.  And so, I am offering spheres for peace as a way of believing that something so small has the power to nudge this process along.

Each sphere is made by hand from a piece of clay.  It is a reminder to encourage one another to remember that peace begins with each individual.  If everyone moved mindfully through this life, with peace in our hearts, perhaps we could change the world one peace sphere at a time.

So, give a sphere to another person, anyone, and help to pass peace along.
