Shells
Series Statement
Collecting shells, broken or whole, has become almost an obsession for me. They are one of Nature’s many rare beauties on the island where I live. I am intrigued by the shapes, colors and endless spirals that exist in their limitless forms. They are as individual as every other living species. In this series, I turn my attention to shells, coral, and other sea life, transforming them into explorations of line and form. Some paintings evoke stillness and sanctuary while others swirl with color and drama. Paintings in this series tell different but related stories, exploring the interrelationship between the obvious and the mysterious.
